Robert Capa. Paris. August 25th, 1944. Members of the French resistance fighting against the German troops. That same day the city was liberated. In June 1944 the Allied forces opened a second front in Normandy (after the one in North Africa and Italy) to liberate France. Between June and August they managed to liberate northern France.
Henri Cartier-Bresson. Paris. 1st arrondissement. Rue de Rivoli. 26th August 1944. French collaboratorationists are shooting from the roofs on the crowd who came to welcome the General DE GAULLE. The general was leading the procession going from the triumphal Arch (tomb of the unknown soldier) untill the cathedral of Notre-Dame.
