Caspar David Friedrich, The Giant's Mountains, 1835
Caspar David Friedrich, The Tree of Crows, 1774-1840
Caspar David Friedrich was the most important. His paintings are simple, deeply poetic and very emotional. I like art which is ruled not by anarchy, but by highly opinionated artists.
What's most important for me in this painting is its use of shadows and subdued colors, the openness of the composition, and, at the same time, it's rigor. The dramatic atmosphere of paintings like that correspond to the mood of my film.
